Students at Hickory Creek Elementary School recently performed their 10th anniversary musical adaption of “The Polar Express.”  The musical extravaganza featured the Hickory Creek Elementary School band and chorus, a dance ensemble and a cast of over 25 students.  In recognition of the 10 year milestone performance, former Hickory Creek Elementary band students were invited to participate in the production and over 25 middle and high school students joined the HCE Band.

Along with the two nightly performances, there were two daytime performances for students and staff at the school. The audience is invited to sing along with the chorus during several of the songs and Santa even makes an appearance during the production.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the award-winning book “The Polar Express,” written by Chris Van Allsburg.

“This story has been a favorite of our students over the past decade and requires a small army of volunteers behind the scenes working together,” said Rhonda Gauger, music director at Hickory Creek Elementary School.  “We extend our thanks to the parents, volunteers, and students who work so hard to make this musical a success.”
