Grand Opening The Falls at Shearwater

Shearwater, the new master-planned community off C.R. 210 in northern St. Johns County, is hosting a grand opening event to celebrate the official opening of The Falls neighborhood and amenities. This event is open to the public and will include a wide variety of family-friendly activities such as riding in a hot air balloon, watching the World Famous Frisbee Dog Show, and shopping for local goods at the on-site Farmer’s Market.

Shearwater’s newest neighborhood, The Falls, offers several new amenities and homes from two renowned homebuilders, Dream Finders Homes and David Weekley Homes. The Falls features extensive nature trails, a four-acre activity park and Shearwater’s first community garden and dog parks.

Third Thursday Lecture – “A Soldier’s Story”

At this lecture Paul Ghiotto will give a Powerpoint presentation about the amazing story of the only Mandarin resident who died in WWI. This event is being held a few days after Veterans Day – in honor of Pvt. Marion Joseph Losco and all who have ever served in the U.S. Armed Forces.
 
Third Thursday Lectures are presented by the Mandarin Museum & Historical Society in partnership with and at the Mandarin Community Club, 12447 Mandarin Rd. The date is Thursday, November 16. Refreshments begin at 6:30, with the lecture at 7. It is free and all are invited and encouraged to attend. For more information, call 268-0784.

18th annual Mandarin Winter Celebration

The Mandarin Museum & Historical Society invites all to the 18th Annual Winter Celebration in Mandarin from 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM on Saturday, December 2. This free event has become a family tradition for many and is well known for old-fashioned fun, including: tours of all 19th century historic buildings in the Walter Jones Historical Park, reenactors, music (including African drumming and acoustic jam), children’s games and crafts, Plein Aire artists in the park, horse drawn hay rides, weaving, antique cars and more.
