The 39th Annual St. Augustine Lions Club Seafood Festival

ANNOUNCING THE 2020 ST. AUGUSTINE LIONS SEAFOOD FESTIVAL Save the Date! The 39th Annual Seafood Festival will be held March 20 through 22 ST. AUGUSTINE, Florida  The St. Augustine Lions Club is proud to announce the dates for the 39th Annual Seafood Festival, which will be held in the Ancient City March 20-22, 2020. The beloved festival is the primary fundraising event for the St. Augustine Lions Foundation each year, generating hundreds of thousands of dollars for local organizations providing services to the community with a focus on youth, the deaf and blind, disaster relief, veterans, and so much more. Founded in 1981, and with more than 25,000 people expected to attend in 2020, the Seafood Festival is the largest, oldest, and most family-oriented festival in St. Augustine.

The primary draw of the Festival is its abundance of seafood and great live music. Other attractions include kiddie rides, fun activities, family shows, and an Arts & Crafts village with nearly one hundred affordable arts and crafts exhibitors. “We’re very excited to announce the dates for 2020,” said Dominic Mercurio, Festival Chairman. “This is truly a community event and local Lions, whose motto is ‘We Serve,’ are able to raise the funds needed to fulfill our claim that ‘Where there is a need, there is a Lion.’ We invite everyone out to Francis Field to join us because ‘We’re Havin’ Fun Now!’”

Hours and Admission: Francis Field is located at 25 W. Castillo Drive in downtown St. Augustine. Festival hours are Friday March 20 from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday March 21 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday March 22 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Arts & Crafts village closes at sundown. Admission is $5 for adults. Food is not included with admission. No pets allowed except service animals. Free Parking and Shuttle: Shuttles will pick up and drop off visitors on Saturday and Sunday only at locations to be announced. UF ASSOCIATION OF BLACK ALUMNI JACKSONVILLE TO HOST 2ND ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP BREAKFAST; FLORIDA VS. GEORGIA TAILGATE
JACKSONVILLE, Fla., October 10, 2019 – Each year, thousands of people attend the Florida vs. Georgia rivalry football game on the First Coast. And each year, the “World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party” also creates college dreams for local students.
The University of Florida Association of Black Alumni – Jacksonville chapter (UF ABA JAX) stands in the gap to help that dream become reality through their annual Scholarship Breakfast. The 2nd annual event will be held on Saturday, October 26th, 9 a.m., at the Sheraton Hotel, located at 10605 Deerwood Park Blvd., Jacksonville, Fl.
The breakfast raises money for local students going to the University of Florida. This year’s keynote speaker is Jamal Sowell, c/o ’05, Florida Secretary of Commerce, President/CEO of Enterprise Florida, Inc. and former UF Student Body President.

Breakfast attendees may enter a raffle to win two Florida vs Georgia game day tickets with a parking pass. Raffle tickets are $20.
On November 2, UF ABA JAX will host an official Florida vs. Georgia Tailgate and Watch Party, featuring DJ, food trucks, games, etc. This event is free and open to the public.
UF ABA JAX is an affiliate of the University of Florida Alumni Association.

River-To-Sea Loop Public Workshop

River-To-Sea Loop Public Workshop

St. Johns County is hosting a public workshop regarding the St. Johns River-To-Sea Loop multi-use trail from 5 to 7 p.m. on October 24 at the Solomon Calhoun Community Center, 1300 Duval Street, St. Augustine, FL 32084. Information on the preferred alignment  of the FDOT-funded project and associated planning study will be presented. The public will have an opportunity to offer feedback and learn about potential next steps.
