     POPULAR “HOW TO SPEAK DOG” PRESENTATION TO BE FEATURED BY THERAPY ANIMAL COALITION SPEAKERS’ SERIESJacksonville, Fla., January 9, 2019 – Veteran canine trainer and therapy dog expert, Rev. Elizabeth Teal, will teach people the keys to understanding dogs’ communications with their humans in a free workshop sponsored by Therapy Animal Coalition (TAC). Rev. Teal, a favorite of TAC members and program attendees, will lead an interactive program beginning at 6 p.m. at Community Hospice of Northeast Florida on Sunbeam Road on Thursday, January 17, 2019.“Being able to interpret and understand what your dog is saying with their body language is a vital skill for all dog lovers,” said Kristi Leonard, president of the TAC Board of Directors, “It is especially important for therapy animal handlers. It leads to a deeper relationship and enables handlers to manage their dog's interactions while volunteering.”The environment for the program will be friendly, informal and relaxed. There will be a chance to ask questions and light refreshments will be served.Rev. Elizabeth Teal, of The Ministry of Animals Giving Paws, is a leader in working with therapy animals and ministry animals since 1985. She has been working with therapy animal teams since before pets were widely accepted in institutional settings and was a leader in setting Standards of Practice used in the field today. Teal has been affiliated professionally with the ASPCA, the Delta Society’s Pet Partners National Committee and Pattes Tendues (Swiss therapy animal organization).Admission is free, but people planning to attend are asked to make a reservation at the following link note this is a “humans-only” event. (Service animals are always welcome.)The next major program sponsored by TAC will be their annual Therapy Animal Expo & Symposium on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at the University of North Florida. Keynote Speaker for this year’s Expo will be Steve Dale, certified animal behavior specialist who has a 20-year history of advancing pet wellness. Affiliation with UNF has enabled TAC to add an academic track to the seminar offerings. The group plans to build upon the success of their first Expo in 2016 when they had over 250 people attend an event where only 100 people were anticipated.Therapy Animal Coalition (TAC) was established in 2016 to promote sharing the healing love of pets through pet-assisted therapy. TAC provides information and education on the various steps necessary to become a pet therapy team including training, evaluation and registration or certification.     1/2/2019 PONTE VEDRA BEACH, FL: The Cultural Center at Ponte Vedra Beach (CCPVB), a local non-profit arts center and gallery space, has announced the dates for its popular annual exhibition, JAME. JAME (Juried Artist Member Exhibition) will begin January 18, 2019 with a free Opening Reception from 6pm - 8pm. The exhibition will then be opened to the public 10am - 4pm on Mondays - Saturdays through March 2, 2019. Visitors to CCPVB will be able to view a wide variety of local art as artists compete for the opportunity to exhibit and for cash prizes. Art work is also available for purchase during the exhibition.All Cultural Center Artist, Patron, and Renaissance Members are invited to submit work for JAME. This opportunity is open to all media, including 3D works of art. Previously known as Celebrate Art, JAME is an annual juried exhibition. Members can submit up to five works of art of any medium, and guest judge, Alicia Somers, will select pieces as well as assign prizes at the opening. New members are welcomed to participate.This is a perfect opportunity to show your work to the community, learn from other artists, and potentially win a prize! The first place winner will be awarded $300. The award winner will also be offered a solo exhibition in the Scene Gallery at the Cultural Center during the 2020 exhibition year. Second place will receive a prize of $125 and third place will receive a prize of $75.     On January 19, 2019, Gordon Meggison will be demonstrating at the Society of Mixed Media Artists (SoMMA) meeting.  The meeting will begin at 10:30 at the Ponte Vedra Cultural Center, located at 50 Executive Way, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL  32082.  The public is invited to attend. Gordon describes himself as a citizen of the world.  He has traveled extensively and brings his experiences to his artwork both in abstract and natural subject matter.  His mural work is known locally, nationally and internationally.  Acrylics and watercolor are his favored media in works that have been in exhibitions around the world.  At the January meeting he will be demonstrating the use of acrylics combined with sculptural textured media to create a variety of techniques for abstraction.  It will be an informative and “not to be missed” demonstration.
