    Bill Guilliford: Update on Current City Council Issues

    Bill Gulliford has been a resident of Jacksonville and the Beaches community since 1954. He graduated from Bishop Kenny High School and then the University of Florida. After military service he returned to Jacksonville and joined his father’s construction equipment business, Pilot Equipment Company. He acquired the business from his father and successfully grew it until 1996 when he sold the company. Since then he has started two other businesses involved in the sale of construction equipment and currently is a partner in Major Machinery & Equipment LLC, a company involved in exporting construction equipment.In 1988 Bill was elected mayor of Atlantic Beach and served until 1993. Bill was elected to the Jacksonville City Council in 2011, to represent District 13, which includes the beaches and the southeastern section of Duval County.  In 2012, Bill was awarded the Charles D. Webb Award, for extraordinary commitment to public service, by out-going president, Stephen Joost. The members of the City Council unanimously elected Bill to serve as President for the 2013/2014 Council Year.  Bill received the Mary L. JACKSONVILLE, FL – On Saturday, February 9th, 2019, River City Science Academy (RCSA) will host their 7th Annual Florida STEM & Health Expo, presented by SharedLABS, on February 9th at their main campus, 7605 Beach Blvd. Jacksonville, FL 32216.The Florida STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) & Health Expo has been a great event for the Jacksonville community since its founding. The expo serves as an alternative to the typical county fair. It allows RCSA students to get a chance to showcase their STEM work in a fun and unique way, with learning opportunities for the entire family.     JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA - JANUARY 9, 2019 - The Jacksonville Children's Chorus (JCC) presents the Tenth Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. "Lift Ev'ry Voice and Sing" Concert. The concert will be held Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 2 p.m., Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church located at 4001 Hendricks Avenue in Jacksonville.All of the JCC performance choirs will take the stage, joined by their special guests, the Tuskegee University Golden Voices (pictured above). This famous university choir is an organization steeped in more than a century of pride and the richest of choral traditions. Since its inception, the Tuskegee University Golden Voices has served as an artistic model while carving its place in American history.
    Co-emcees for the concert will be Aundra Wallace, President of JAXUSA Partnership, and Dr. Barbara Darby former Campus President of the Florida State College at Jacksonville."We are excited to celebrate 10 years presenting our 'Lift Ev'ry Voice and Sing' concert to the Jacksonville community and helping to promote unity through song." said Darren Dailey, President and Artistic Director, Jacksonville Children's Chorus.The mission of the Jacksonville Children's Chorus is to provide high-quality choral music educational opportunities for children of diverse backgrounds, fostering teamwork, self-discipline, accomplishment and pride while filling an important cultural need in the community and sharing the beauty of the choral art form through artistically excellent performances.Tickets for the event are $20 and may be purchased online at JaxChildrensChorus.org or by phone at 904-353-1636, ext. 2.
