Southside Newcomers Club seeks members. The Southside Newcomers Club welcomes members from the Jacksonville area. Prospective members can be new to the area or have experienced a lifestyle change. Activities include game days, Bunco, Mah Jongg, bridge and Canasta. Groups participate in beading, book clubs, movie outings, lunches, line dancing and dinner events. All Star Quilt Guild hosts show and tell. Lifetree Cafe hosts film festival. The Mandarin Senior Center will host the International Lifetree Film Festival on Friday, March 4. Creative short films from around the globe will be showcased with the overarching theme of people who are “doing life” or “doing good.” Short films include Guang, Spaghetti for Two, Meet Joel—My Last Days, Dancing Outside the Box, Unburden and Titanic Love.

Project SOS to hold gala. Project SOS will hold their annual fundraiser for youth, the Grand Anchor Gala, on March 5 beginning at 6 p.m. at the Sawgrass Marriott in Ponte Vedra Beach. Seniors who need assistance with preparing their income tax returns can visit the Southeast Regional Library, located at 10599 Deerwood Park Blvd., on Wednesdays in March from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. AARP TaxAide sites are serviced by IRS certified volunteers that provide free tax counselling and preparation services to millions of low- and middle-income taxpayers.
