Get to Know … Michelle Wright

Michelle Wright, MS, LMHC works and lives in Mandarin. A native Oklahomian, she earned her undergraduate dual degree in biology and chemistry with a minor in psychology from Southeastern Oklahoma State University. She fell in love with the Jacksonville area when she came here for an internship in medical technology at St. Vincent’s Hospital in 2004. She decided to stay and took jobs at the blood bank and then eventually in the hematology/oncology department. Eventually she went on to earn her master’s degree in mental health counseling from Walden University. Presently, she has her own practice in Mandarin, where she works with her mother, Dr. Cindy Wright, a psychiatrist. She lives with her eight-year-old great dane, Icey.

Get to Know … Ken Overman

Ken Overman is a natural storyteller… which is good, since that is his latest business. Over his lifetime, he has been a world traveler with a wide assortment of jobs; he has written four memoirs. He has extensive knowledge of foreign countries and cultures and many more stories than space here will permit. From his upbringing in Southern California, to a tour with the Army in Turkey, to stints with late wife Barbara in Germany, Spain, and Greece, he has, by his own count, visited 106 countries. Twenty-four years ago, he and his family made Ponte Vedra Beach their home. He started his business, BiographyMasters, nine years ago and now helps others write their biographies. He says it’s an honor to have people tell him their life stories.

Get to Know …  MJ Hayes

Local children’s author MJ Hayes said before she could write, she told stories by drawing with crayons. Her whole life, she has been interested in writing, including as part of her career as a kindergarten through third grade teacher. In fact, her first story was “Ollie the Octopus,” which she wrote as exemplification for her third grade class at the time, since they were learning about octopuses.

Mandarin High School rising senior Caleb Carpenter has grown up in the area and found a passion for football when he started playing in eighth grade. He plays right tackle for the Mandarin Mustangs and along with his team, recently received his State Championship ring.

Get to Know … Michael and Sashell Dragich

Local entrepreneurs Michael and Sashell Dragich grew up on opposite ends of the state. Michael Dragich was born in Ohio and later moved to South Florida while Sashell Dragich is a St. Johns native and has called Julington Creek home her entire life. She was a part of Bartram Trail High School’s legacy class (the first class to complete four full years after the school opened). Sashell Dragich attended the University of Central Florida and Florida Gulf Coast University in Ft. Myers, where she majored in business. After high school in South Florida, Michael Dragich joined the Marine Corps.
