Southeast Regional Library promotes learning before kindergarten

Early literacy — what a child knows about reading and writing before they can actually read or write — is integral to kindergarten readiness. It’s been proven that when babies, toddlers and preschoolers are exposed not only to books, but also to music, sounds and letters, their chance for success in school increases. Parents, when the older kids go back to school, bring the little ones to the library to learn.

Record numbers for Bartram Trail Library’s second annual Comic Con

The Friends of the Bartram Trail Branch Library sponsored the second annual Comic Con, Saturday, June 4 with a record-breaking number of visitors. The event was a celebration of Harry Potter, superheroes, graphic novels, comics and all things pop culture.

Comic Con is back at the Bartram Trail Branch Library in Julington Creek on Saturday, June 4 from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Stop by and make crafts, snap a selfie with a member of the 501st or pick up a comic book. This is an all ages event.

Adult Coloring Club a hit at the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library

Twelve diverse and very eager ladies attended the first meeting of Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library’s new Adult Coloring Club on Jan. 12.

According to Assistant Branch Manager Anne Crawford, the ladies’ reasons for attending ranged from loving to color, but not wanting to be judged, to knowing the benefits of art therapy that coloring provides, to just wanting to meet new people and relax.
