Early kindergarten registration dates announced for St. Johns County

The St. Johns County School District will hold early registration for children entering kindergarten for the 2017 – 2018 school year on the following dates:

Wednesday, Feb. 15, 1  p.m. – 5 p.m.
Friday, March 24, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Tuesday, April 4, 1  p.m. – 5 p.m.
Monday, May 15, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Ocean Palms Elementary students honor veterans

Ocean Palms Elementary School students have been learning about and honoring veterans. Students participated in Operation Gratitude by collecting candy and decorating cards with heartfelt messages of appreciation delivered to the USO at Naval Station Mayport. Also, each of the school’s 972 students placed an American flag in the ground at the front of the school to line the entryway and honor the military.

Linder named Mandarin Oaks’ Teacher of the Year

Mandarin Oaks Elementary has announced that its 2016-2017 Teacher of the Year is third grade teacher Cindy Linder. Linder has taught for 25 years, the past 13 at Mandarin Oaks. Linder was recognized for her positive attitude, willingness to help others, and the dedication that she has toward all of her students.

PVPV/Rawlings holds best ever Turtle Trot

PVPV/Rawlings Elementary School held its annual Turtle Trot Fund Run on Oct. 20, hosted by the school’s PTO and Community Partner in Education, Coastal Luxury Outdoors. This is the largest fundraiser for the elementary school and this year the funds were being raised to revitalize the outdoor spaces on both the PVPV and Rawlings playgrounds.

Ocean Palms students collect food for needy

Ocean Palms Elementary School joined with St. Johns CARES for a food drive. More than 800 items were collected to benefit St. Francis House, Celebration Lutheran Church’s Christ’s Pantry and the Hastings/Armstrong migrant workers.
