Change for a Change program expanded

Change for a Change, started by youth-led service group Small Steps, collects pocket change for charities. It has been expanded to help fund not only the original beneficiary, the Cultural Center at Ponte Vedra Beach’s outreach music therapy program, but also Special Olympics. The outreach music therapy program serves special needs students in Ocean Palms, PVPV Rawlings and Valley Ridge Academy.

St. Johns County 4-H participates in Splash of Service

St. Johns County 4-H clubs joined the national 4-H “Grow True Leaders” campaign by conducting their Splash of Service projects through the county in April. The 4-H Splash of Service effort was kicked off with a proclamation by the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners on April 5, when Commissioner Jeb Smith presented the proclamation to 4-H staff, volunteers and youth.

Field of Dreams registration now open

Free registration is now open for special needs baseball for local youth. The Field of Dreams is a specially designed turf baseball field that allows children with mental or physical disabilities living in or near St. Johns County the opportunity to play baseball, to wear a uniform and play as a member of a team.

St. Johns County: Help clean up the beach

Due to a unique combination of weather and tide conditions, St. Johns County beaches are currently experiencing an unprecedented amount of land based debris washing up on our beaches. In response, St. Johns County is partnering with Keepers of the Coast, Scenic A1A and GTMNERR to host an emergency “Give Back to the Beach” cleanup event from 9 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturday, Dec. 19.
