David Wolf has lived in Durbin Crossing since 2004. His love of the community – the parks, the neighbors and the atmosphere, prompted him to start the Good Deed Brigade in 2013. This movement aims to tell uplifting stories in the St. Johns and Duval county areas.

When Wolf isn’t busy writing articles and books about the community’s good deeds, he and his wife spend time with their children’s extracurricular activities. Wolf also enjoys bicycling and suburban adventures with his wife.

  1. How and why did you start the Good Deed Brigade?
I started the Good Deed Brigade to be a trusted and reliable source highlighting kindness and community service. Wherever you see the Good Deed Brigade, it’s all good. I founded [the movement] with a website, Facebook page, newsletter and book. I eventually wrote articles for some local newspapers [including The CreekLine] as a way to highlight the good work and wonderful spirit of my St. Johns County neighbors and friends.

  2. What’s one of the best Good Deed stories you’ve heard thus far?
One of my favorite Good Deed stories and adventures involved the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind. I had heard about the school but had never visited the school in the 15 – 16 years that I had lived here. I contacted the school and was given a wonderful tour. It was amazing to see the libraries, classrooms and all of the opportunities that this public school had to offer. The visit gave me an opportunity to appreciate what can be done with hard work, dedication and, yes, that certain sense of community. St. Johns County is home to one of the most amazing public schools in the country. It makes me proud to be a resident here and be part of it all.

  3. What’s a positive result you’ve witnessed since Good Deed’s inception?
It is truly rewarding to see and hear how people appreciate being part of the Good Deed Brigade as a featured person or just a reader. People are recognized for their good deeds and others are inspired to do their own good deeds. We all have our stress and issues in life. It is a bit comforting to know that there is a place in which you will only read about good deeds, kindness and inspiration.

  4. Have you encountered any negativity since beginning?
I cannot say that I have encountered any negativity, but I have encountered some confusion at times. What is the Good Deed Brigade? What is its purpose?

  5. If you could be any superhero, who would you be and why?
I am going to go with Batman. He doesn’t have any super powers per se. He is just resourceful and wise. He also has some wonderful tools and tech at his disposal. I will never fly like Superman and never run as fast as Flash, but I can use my resources, wisdom, tools and tech to do some good out in the world.
