The Rotary Club of Bartram Trail-Julington Creek welcomed new president Mitch Ross in July as part of the annual leadership transition observed by more than 32,000 Rotary clubs worldwide.

Ross, a Montana native who moved to north Florida in 2019, succeeds outgoing president Molly Paxton. He retired from a career in the tech industry after working as a sales engineer and cybersecurity specialist for Digital Equipment Corporation and IBM.

Ross earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of Montana and a master’s degree in management information systems from the University of Maryland.

“We do a lot of good work, and we have fun doing it. It’s exactly what I was looking for,” Ross said about joining Rotary as an opportunity to serve the community and meet new friends.

During his presidential term, Ross hopes to attract younger members and facilitate the organization’s work with youth programs throughout the community.

Ross and his wife Celia have been married 41 years and have two adult daughters and two grandchildren. They live in Nocatee, where Ross plays drums with a community band, creates stained glass pieces and works on a 2003 BMW Z4 Roadster.

The club meets Thursdays from 7:30 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. at Westminster Woods on Julington Creek. Information is available at bartramtrailrotary.org, and guests are welcome.
