Q. What services does your office offer in recognition of Veterans Day?
A. To honor the brave men and women who have served our nation, we will offer complimentary services to veterans, active-duty military, reservists, and their dependents through Nov. 29. This includes free passport photos, notary services, and recording services for DD-214s.
Q. What is the importance of recording DD-214s?
A. Recording your DD-214 ensures an official copy is available if the original is lost or destroyed. These records remain protected for 62 years after separation. In addition to offering this service year-round, we will offer recording services at the Veterans Day event on Nov. 11 at Anastasia Baptist Church, 1659 A1A South in St. Augustine Beach.
Q. November is also known as National Adoption Awareness Month. Please share details about the annual event your office hosts.
A. Our office will celebrate National Adoption Day with a special ceremony on Friday, Nov. 22, at 10 a.m. at the Richard O. Watson Judicial Center. This public event celebrates the final hearing in adoption cases. We are thrilled to host this event and collaborate with our government partners to share this special moment with children and local families.
Q. What is the role of the Clerk’s Office in the adoption process?
A. Our Family Law Clerks play a crucial role in adoption proceedings. Our clerks process the petitions filed by the adoptive parents and their attorney, process the final judgment of adoption signed by the Family Court Judges, and provide certified copies of the orders to the parties.
Q. What is the best way for residents to contact your office?
A. If residents have questions about services offered to veterans, the National Adoption Day Celebration, or any other services we offer, call us at (904) 819-3600 or email clerk@stjohnsclerk.com.
