July is a time of transition for Rotary Clubs around the world, as each club turns over its leadership to a new club president, slate of officers, and board of directors. Locally, the Rotary Club of Bartram Trail – Julington Creek celebrated the beginning of the new Rotary Year with its annual “Pass the Gavel” event, as the club presidency transitions from José Gavarrette to David Goldman.

There is much for Past President José and club members to be proud of, as the 2022 – 23 year featured weekly meetings and programs, membership growth, many community service projects, monthly social events, and international involvement.

Looking forward, Bartram Trail Rotarians are planning another year of local and international service, inspired by the Rotary International Theme for 2023 – 24, “Create Hope in the World.” Leading the way will be President David’s team, including President-Elect Molly Paxton, Treasurer Frank Gwaltney, Secretary Ray Berger, Sergeant-at-Arms Tommy Rhodes, and Director-at-Large Jack Murray. Significantly, the club will mark its 20th anniversary this fall, with a big celebration planned to recognize this landmark event.

The Rotary Club of Bartram Trail – Julington Creek meets every Thursday morning from 7:30 – 8:30 a.m. at Westminster Woods on Julington Creek. Guests and prospective members are always welcome. Visit www.bartramtrailrotary.org for more information.
