The Mandarin Community Club will host a Flag Retirement Ceremony on Sunday, Feb. 20 at 2 p.m. This ceremony has become a very special annual service to the community as we collect faded, worn, damaged flags or any US flag in need of proper disposal.

The Mandarin Community Club has partnered with the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) and affiliates like Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) for years to bring awareness of the need for our nation’s flags to be retired with respect and solemn honor. The community club hosts and the Sons of the American Revolution conducts the ceremony educating attendees on the powerful and moving history of the flag — as well as the patriotic meaning and importance of proper flag disposal.

Join us on Sunday, Feb. 20 outdoors in Billard Park, adjacent to the Mandarin Community Club. Flags in need of retiring may be brought to the collection box on the Mandarin Community Club front porch beginning the week of Sunday, Feb. 13 until the ceremony the following Sunday.

The Mandarin Community Club is located at 12447 Mandarin Road. Visit www.mandarincommunityclub.org for more information.
