The Mandarin Ladies, NFL Super Bowl volunteers for the Super Bowl that Jacksonville hosted back on Feb. 6, 2005, were again at The Ale House on the Friday before this year’s Super Bowl for another reunion. They had dug out their red uniform shirts from the back of the closet (saved for 17 years), found the ID badges and other bling to hang around their necks, and again found the back booth in the bar, after a seven-year break. The Mandarin Ladies drank a toast to Ellie, who they had lost during this time apart.

These ladies had so much fun and laughed so hard at so many things as volunteers that on Super Bowl weekend the following year they decided to get together for lunch to reminisce. These reunions continued for 10 years.  But then in this busy world, everyone went their own way, did their own thing and most didn’t see each other very often; after seven more years, the urge to get together and laugh and maybe shed a tear or two was strong, so they restarted the tradition.
