Q: Have you been able to schedule the local office hours again yet?
A: Yes. I was available to meet with constituents at the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library in January for the first time in a while. In February, I have office hours scheduled at the library on Feb. 28 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. I ask that interested parties call my office first for an appointment so that we can be prepared to discuss whatever the specific issue is. I will also hold local office hours in March on March 25 for those who like to plan ahead.

Q: Can you give an update on the FEMA berm project?
A: So far this is moving along smoothly and hasn’t been too disruptive. I think people are starting to notice a nice berm rising in the background when they visit the beach, which will hopefully protect us from nor’easters. This project will take a few more months to complete.

Q: What can you tell us about the recent Growth Management Workshop offered by the county in January?
A: We plan to build on feedback received at this workshop and will schedule additional workshops in the spring or summer. The dates have not been picked yet. In the meantime, I’d encourage everyone to email their commissioners with any thoughts or concerns they may have.

Q: What is happening now as far as the county-wide redistricting is concerned?
A: We approved a new district map for St. Johns County along with the school board and it has been sent to Tallahassee. The next step will include new voting precincts and polling locations, which will be coordinated by Supervisor of Elections Vicky Oakes. People should keep their eyes out for communication from her with updates in this area.

Q: Do you have anything else to share with District 4?
A: St. Johns County continues to offer COVID testing for work or school purposes at the Wind Mitigation Building, 3111 Agricultural Center Drive. The testing site’s standard business hours are 7 a.m. – 4 p.m. Monday through Sunday. It’s best to pre-register online to expedite the process. Visit www.sjcfl.us/coronavirus for more information.

Q: What is the best way for our readers to contact you?
A: Readers can email me at bcc4jblocker@sjcfl.us or call me at (904) 679-2620.
