Q: What’s the latest on the search for a new superintendent?
A: The online survey soliciting public opinion closed on Feb. 14, but there are still many other pieces to the process. The advertisement period for the position is scheduled to close on March 28 and the next major date will be April 10, when we will identify the semifinalists. All of the information and steps in the process are available to view on the school district website.
Q: Do you have any updates on the new K – 8 school under construction in Nocatee?
A: The tilt walls on this school went up in mid-February, so construction is coming along. This school is scheduled to open in Fall 2026 and we anticipate our new superintendent will name the principal by January 2026. We will address zoning this fall, after the start of next school year.
Q: Do you have any kudos to share?
A: I’d like to recognize the winners from the St. Johns County Secondary STEM Fair from District 4. The fair was held in early February and our district had a particularly strong showing at this event. Junior Categorical Award winners from Landrum Middle School were Sree Siliveri (who also recently won the St. Johns County Spelling Bee), Liam Khirsukhani, Shanmukha Patsamatla, Elizabeth Curran and Lorelei Cappock. Frederick Davis-Baer from Pine Island Academy also placed first in one of the Junior Categoricals. Senior Categorical Award winners from Ponte Vedra High School were Dhruva Gadiparthi, Arianna Rahmathulla, Nicholas Storm, Nicolette Finn, and Anya Dorairaj. Sophie Duan from Nease also placed first in one of the Senior Categoricals.
