If you think libraries are only for bibliophiles, think again. Southeast Regional Library offers a full slate of computer classes taught by skilled electronic specialists. Specialized courses in November include learning to code using the programming language Python. The three-part series occurs Saturdays, Nov. 5 – 19 at 2:30 p.m. and will cover many functions.

There are also classes for budding or accomplished writers. Learn how to manage all of your ideas using MS Office OneNote on Nov. 2 at 3 p.m. If you’re ready to let the world read your work, join us on Nov. 9 at 3 p.m to learn how to edit and publish your e-book.

For those who prefer individualized help with basic computer and mobile device instruction, 1-on-1 Tech appointments can be made. Many customers have received mobile devices as gifts, but don’t feel comfortable using them. The library can help with that. E-Library Specialist Donna Peretzman, who conducts 1-on-1 Tech sessions, loves to witness customers’ “light bulb” moments when they realize they can do it themselves. Schedule an appointment online at jaxpubliclibrary.org/e-services/one-one-tech-help or speak with any librarian. The full calendar of computer classes is at jaxpubliclibrary.org/e-services.

Let your voice be heard during early voting opportunities through Nov. 5. Go to your assigned polling precinct on general Election Day, Nov. 8.

The Virtual Library is always open

Although library locations will be closed Nov. 11 in honor of Veterans Day and Nov. 25 and 26 for Thanksgiving, the virtual library is available 24/7 at www.jaxpubliclibrary.org. Download popular and current e-books, audiobooks, magazines, music and movies for free. Leave money in your pocket for Black Friday shopping.

Speaking of holiday buying, you can support the library while shopping on Amazon. If you’re searching the library’s online catalog for a book, CD or DVD  and you decide you’d like to own your own copy, just click the Buy It Now button beside the item. You will be redirected to Amazon.com where you can complete the purchase through your personal Amazon account. Each time you use the Buy It Now link to purchase books, music or any other items from Amazon, your purchase will benefit the library and help us add new materials to our collection. Thank you in advance for your support.

Find information about additional upcoming events at Southeast Regional Library at jaxpubliclibrary.org/events or call the Southeast Regional Library at (904) 996-0325.
