Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is hosting an open house Thursday, March 31 from 4:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. at Kernan Boulevard Baptist Church (4000 Kernan Blvd. S., Jacksonville) for the next Interstate 295 express lanes project from J. Turner Butler Boulevard to State Road 9B.
This is an informal meeting in which those interested can drop by anytime between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. for project information including timeframe, construction activities, traffic impacts and other project details. Project staff will be available at the meeting to answer questions. Since this is an informal open house, no presentation will be made.
The project, which begins this summer, includes the construction of two additional 12-foot travel lanes (tolled express lanes) in each direction, improving interchanges at J. Turner Butler Boulevard, Gate Parkway, Baymeadows Road and State Road 9B, constructing noise walls along I-295 in various locations, building drainage ponds and installing electronic tolling systems at various locations for toll collection.
