Back-to-school shopping can do quite a bit of damage to your wallet; however, the most important supply for all students — a library card — is completely free. September is National Library Card Sign-up Month, a time when Southeast Regional Library, along with all Jacksonville Public Library locations, encourages anyone and everyone to get a library card.
Why is a library card so important? Today’s libraries are about more than books. They are creative educational spaces for learners from birth to high school and beyond. Southeast Regional Library provides the materials, resources and staff to open doors to success in many endeavors. So make sure a library card is in your wallet and check out these and many other informative programs at Southeast Regional library.
This is Not Your Mother’s Book Club
While we just said that libraries are about more than books, books are still our first love. And reading is a passion for many of you too. We especially enjoy witnessing and fostering younger readers to share their excitement about books. This is Not your Mother’s Book Club on Sept. 16 at 4:30 p.m. is a monthly book club for teens ages 12 –18 who want to talk to someone about the awesome book they just read. This is a read and share style group, so come prepared to talk up your favorite recent reads.
Budding Scientists
A brand new STEM program, Budding Scientists, kicks off Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 3:30 p.m. With the direction of the Atlantic Coast High School Science National Honor Society, kids aged five –12 will explore science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) concepts with hands-on projects.
