On Saturday, Feb. 25, Sawgrass hosted the first “Battle of the Beaches” tennis event. Ponte Vedra Inn & Club and Sawgrass Country Club battled for the championship trophy with five lines of doubles in men’s and women’s tennis, along with three lines of mixed doubles for a total of 13 matches. Each match win counted as one point for the team total.
At the end of the tournament, Sawgrass Country Club defeated Ponte Vedra Inn & Club 8 to 5 to win the “Battle of the Beaches” and bragging rights until next year.
