PVPV/Rawlings Elementary School held its annual Turtle Trot Fund Run on Oct. 20, hosted by the school’s PTO and Community Partner in Education, Coastal Luxury Outdoors. This is the largest fundraiser for the elementary school and this year the funds were being raised to revitalize the outdoor spaces on both the PVPV and Rawlings playgrounds.

The annual Turtle Trot Fund Run encourages fitness for kindergarteners through fifth graders, while raising funds to support the students’ needs. The students walked or ran up to 30 minutes while being cheered on by their teachers, family members and representatives from the school’s community partners in education. Volunteers marked each lap completed on the back of the t-shirts featuring the Turtle Trot logo donated to each student by PTO.

Reveal day was Oct. 26 and the students learned they raised more than $97,000, a huge increase from last year’s collected donations. Because they were so successful, as a reward students were allowed to wear flip-flops to school on Oct. 28.
