Most everyone in the Julington Creek Plantation and surrounding area has seen this dog riding on top of a motorcycle. Her name is Scampi. For more than 14 years she has been riding and enjoying the wind in her face, going to amazing places with her human dad.

The adventures started back in 2009 when she was a puppy. She couldn’t stand the fact that her dad would leave her when he got on that loud machine and rode away. So she would escape and chase him down the roads looking for him. Eventually this became a serious problem due to the traffic in the area. Something had to give, and it wasn’t going to be Scampi.

Things gradually began to evolve and her dad figured out a way to strap her in and found goggles for her to wear. Over the years she began to get really professional at riding. They would go up to the mountains and ride the banking curved roads. She would see a hard curve coming and throw her shoulder down into it just like she herself was driving the motorcycle. It was amazing to watch. She became the most popular rider in the biker community, and was featured many times on the covers of magazines.

Sadly Scampi got sick this past Christmas with a severe case of pancreatitis at the age of 15-1/2 and was not able to recover. A group of close friends came to see her off and many tears flowed. As popular as she was, she received about 1,400 condolences. Truly a one-of-a-kind dog.
