Members of the Ponte Vedra Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) cleaned 16 gravestones at Julington Creek Cemetery recently. The project was part of the organization’s mission to support historical preservation. During the past year DAR has supported historical preservation and education about history by cleaning gravestones, donating Revolutionary War Coloring Books to Ponte Vedra Palm Valley School, and supporting the national American History Essay Contest. DAR is a non-political genealogical women’s service organization whose purpose is to promote historic preservation, education, and patriotism. The Ponte Vedra Chapter was founded in 1951 and membership is open to any woman who can trace her heritage to a Revolutionary War patriot. Visit DAR.com or contact regent.darpontevedra@gmail.com for more information.
