From outdoor items such as trikes, bikes and scooters, to indoor sensory tools such as light tables, magnetic letter tiles, blocks, and puzzles, students at Ocean Palms with varying exceptionalities have new ways to learn and play thanks to a grant of more than $9,000 from the JT Townsend Foundation.

The JT Townsend Foundation is dedicated to “providing hope to the community of people living with disabilities by offering financial assistance for adaptive equipment and services that will improve their quality of life,” which is exactly what the foundation’s recent grant to Ocean Palms achieved by providing these unique educational items to the classrooms and outdoor play areas of approximately 75 students at the school.

This isn’t the first time Ocean Palms and the JT Townsend Foundation have worked together on a project: when a new playground was installed at the school in 2020, the foundation donated $5,000 in support of a wheelchair accessible otter float portion of the structure.
