Girl Scout Troop 742 earned their Silver Awards by beautifying the grounds of the Florida Baptist Children’s Home on April 30 and May 15. The intent of the project was to make the grounds appealing and safe for the families utilizing the facilities.

The Florida Baptist Children’s Home provides safe and loving homes for children who have been neglected, abandoned and abused.

The Silver Award, which is for the middle school or Cadette level, is the second highest award in the Girl Scout organization and is meant to have a lasting impact. One of the requirements of the Silver Award is that it be self-perpetuating.

The scouts broke into four groups to plan the project. They planted 44 perennial flowering plants into three flower beds and laid two separate brick pathways leading to gazebos.
